'Kupal' wins US filmfest top prize

Iranian movie 'Kupal' directed by Kazem Mollaei has grabbed the grand prize of the 13th Huntington Beach Film Festival in the US.

‘Kupal’ narrates the story of Dr. Ahmad Kupal, a taxidermist hunter who faces a challenge just before the New Year.

It shows how Kupal's job as a taxidermist costs him being abandoned by his wife.

'Kupal' has won several awards so far. It grabbed the best film award at the Around International Film Festival Amsterdam.

The flick has also recieved the best film award from the 5th edition of the Brasov International Film Festival in Canada.

The Bogota International Film Festival held in Columbia has also awarded the movie by Best Film title.

In Canada too, 'Kupal' bagged two awards at the 2017 Hamilton Film Festival.

The Iranian movie has so far had several other awards on its resume.

Since 2005, the Huntington Beach Film Festival has been bringing the best of independent films to the society, according to the festival website.

The latest edition of the festival was held February 22-24, 2018, in California, US.
